Stay Healthy with Summer food. Hmm…let me see…With the scorching heat and current situation of lock down due to Covid-19 these days people are going head bound for those spicy snack items and interesting food what they have been missing for a month now.
It’s true that our brain feeds us information and drives us crazy at times to make sure that we can’t control ourselves and hit the play button for all the channels and even start learning how to be creative in kitchen which is one place in the house we never ever even entered before. And today we are not just entering the kitchen to look out for food which is readily available but also have started to to cook all the street food and food that we love which we love relishing at our favorite restaurants.
Well! I would love to break this out to you that food plan that we have started preparing out of these mentioned eagerness is not doing quite good to our health. Rather, it is making us take a wrong turn for sure, no matter how much ever you are successfully creating moments in all social media platforms which might be the best and amazing creative photos posted everyday, it still is not doing good for your current condition where we have become less active than any other normal day when there was no lock down.
So my mantra would be that we look out for putting in all our efforts and creative juices in the kitchen to prepare healthy food and that is great for summer and start with a healthy lifestyle.
We need not plan for entire day but at least think of including healthy version of food for breakfast and Dinner to begin with. I am sure when you start seeing results showing in your health you would love to incorporate the healthier food even for your lunch and snacks.
Let’s not delay the process of learning what should our routine look like if we plan to follow the former meal routine. So, here you go with few meal inclusions for healthy breakfast and dinner to begin with:
After you wake up:
- A glass of warm water with lemon and lemon zest dipped for 5 mins
Breakfast:
- Fruit Bowl [Try keeping only one type of fruit at a time that eases digestion and only seasonal fruits]
- Egg White [boiled or omelette with lots of veggies]
- Mix Dry Fruits [1/4 of handful which can include soaked almonds-5, cashews-3-5, Raisins-3-4]
- Oats porridge
- Poha – prepare with lots of veggies
- Vegetable Parantha [Not more than 1/2]
Some seasonal fruits for Summer – Mangoes, Watermelon, Muskmelon, Oranges, Jack fruit, Black plum, Litchi, Star fruit, Pineapple.
Dinner:
Keep it simple and less, just like the famous saying eat dinner like a beggar.
- Include protein [Like fish, chicken, egg whites]
- Buttermilk [1/2 glass]
- Bowl of veggies
- Rice with veggies like khichdi [That fits the palm of your hand]
Try avoiding spicy and oily food as we need to make sure to maintain the pH level in our stomach towards alkaline. Also, eat before 2-3 hrs of bedtime.
